Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues: An Evolving Area of the Law
In October 2014, North Carolina's ban against same sex marriage was struck down. Same sex marriages are now permitted and North Carolina now recognizes marriages that occured in other states. This recent change in the law is opening the door for stepparent adoptions between same sex couples who are married.
